The player from Guayaquil is the undisputed star of this LFP World Challenge trip to Ecuador. Since arriving in the city of his birth, the local media have gone crazy for Felipe Caicedo.
In an exclusive interview for LaLiga, the RCD Espanyol player spoke about the opportunity offered by the LFP World Challenge and the Copa Euroamericana to return home and be able to play in the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium. For Caicedo, it is "a very different experience and a very good one" because he used to go to the stadium as a child to cheer on his team, Barcelona SC, and now he will be able to play on the pitch, against his childhood club.
The player also spoke about the passion that exists in Ecuador for Spanish football, and admitted that "since I was young I dreamed of playing in an important stadium in Spain".
Despite having played in many leagues, it is in Spain where Felipe has always felt most comfortable, because the style suits the way he likes to play.
The striker also discussed his first season del R.C.D. Espanyol, admitting the team were on the verge of achieving great things. "It went well, but we weren’t able to finish the job," said the Ecuadorian.
