LALIGA has held a new edition of the Football Intelligence & Performance department's project at its headquarters with professional coaches who are not currently working, a unique initiative among major international competitions that consolidates the role of this LALIGA department as a benchmark in the football industry in the use of data and technology applied to professional football.
The initiative, developed on this occasion in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and its Coaches Committee, aims to continue helping in the training of coaches, in this event, to learn about the latest methodologies and technologies used in competition.
This edition was attended by around twenty renowned coaches, including Robert Moreno, Diego Martínez, Alejandro Menéndez, José Luis Oltra, Rubén Albés, Pablo Machín, José González, Sergio González, Juan Ignacio Martínez, Raúl Llona, Jon Pérez Bolo, Óscar Gilsanz, Fran Fernández, Jandro Castro, Albert Celades, Fran Escribá and Quique Setién. The coaches attended an intensive training day at LALIGA headquarters.
During the session, the coaches were able to learn about the capabilities of LALIGA's technological ecosystem, and in particular the Sportian Performance platform (formerly Mediacoach), used by the 42 professional clubs in the competition. This tool, managed by the Football Intelligence & Performance department, allows real-time analysis of physical, tactical and positional performance data, facilitating strategic decision-making by coaching staff. The department's specialists, football analysts and coaches specialising in big data, are in constant contact with the clubs' coaching staff, advising them on the use and applications of this tool. In addition, through its R&D section applied to football, they keep LALIGA teams up to date on the latest developments in scientific publications related to performance.
"This project demonstrates LALIGA's commitment to providing clubs and their professionals with the best tools, training and support necessary to contribute to continuous improvement and growth in competitiveness. At Football Intelligence, we strive to provide real value to clubs and their coaches, helping them transform data into applicable knowledge that helps improve decision-making in the day-to-day game," said Ricardo Resta, director of LALIGA's Football Intelligence & Performance department.
"We are grateful to LALIGA for this initiative. In this new phase of the RFEF, we are working together on several projects that are for the good of Spanish football and coaches. We are convinced that the evolution of football must go hand in hand with training, something we consider essential for Spanish coaches to remain the most highly valued in the world," said Iván Cancela, president of the RFEF Coaches Committee.
The Football Intelligence & Performance department continues to evolve as a unit of knowledge applied to performance and tactical intelligence, with daily contact with clubs and their coaching staff. LALIGA is thus consolidating its position as the only major league to have developed its own comprehensive performance analysis system and made it available to all teams, promoting the democratisation of competition, competitive equality and innovation in professional football.
