Kirian Rodríguez has been voted the LALIGA EA SPORTS Player of the Month for January, an award presented by LALIGA in partnership with EA. The Canarian shone as his team claimed two wins out of four at the start of the year.
Kirian netted a brace as Las Palmas overcame Villarreal CF 3-0 and also played a pivotal role in his side’s 2-0 away triumph over Rayo Vallecano. These two victories were bookended by 2-1 losses to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, in which the Canarians took the lead and only fell to defeat in the latter stages of both encounters.
Las Palmas are currently sitting pretty in ninth place in LALIGA, enjoying a stellar season having only returned to the topflight a few months ago. In addition to his January accolade, Kirian Rodríguez also jointly claimed the November Play of the Month for his part in a fantastic move involving Alberto Moleiro and Javi Muñoz.
Kirian Rodríguez follows in the footsteps of Girona FC forward Artem Dovbyk, who won the award in December. The 27-year-old beat off competition from Dovbyk, Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal, FC Barcelona’s Ferran Torres and Real Betis’ Isco Alarcón to become January Player of the Month.
