Zinedine Zidane named LaLiga Santander Manager of the Month for May

Zinedine Zidane has been named LaLiga Santander Manager of the Month for May thanks to an impressive run of results last month which led to his team being crowned the LaLiga Santander 2016/17 champions. This accolade is awarded by Banco Santander, the competition's main sponsor, and voted for by the LaLiga.es writers.

Los Blancos scored 14 goals and conceded just two on their way to four wins out of four in May. With barely any cracks in their defence, Real Madrid kicked off the month thrashing Granada CF 4-0. Their next challenge came in the form of Sevilla CF's visit to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Andalusians battled hard, but crashed to a heavy 4-1 defeat at the hands of Zinedine Zidane's side.

Real Madrid then resolved their final two away trips of the season, crucial to their title aspirations, with important wins over RC Celta (4-1) and Malaga CF (2-0), the latter sealing the three points needed to win the club its 32nd LaLiga Santander crown. Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid's brilliant campaign and impressively flawless end to the season earned the Frenchman his first league title as a coach.
