On the eve of their final encounter on their LaLiga World tour around Australia, the Villarreal CF players and technical staff were able to familiarise themselves with the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, where tomorrow they will take on Brisbane Roar (11am CEST).

The team’s coach, Marcelino García Toral, along with Manu Trigueros and Jaume Costa, spoke to Australian and international journalists in a press room where the buzz regarding the Spanish side’s visit was palpable. Some of the Brisbane Roar delegation also alluded to the massive levels of excitement currently being felt at the club. Matt McKay, the team captain, and the manager, Frans Thijssen, expressed their delight at being able to take on one of LaLiga’s strongest sides.

The Villarreal CF squad trained in the venue of tomorrow’s game, the Suncorp Stadium, in order to familiarise themselves with this modern ground which has a capacity of 52,500 spectators. Built in 1914, making it over one hundred-years-old, Brisbane Roar’s stadium was radically revamped in 2003 and remodelled to increase its capacity and now it is one of Australia’s most prestigious arenas.

Tomorrow’s game, which can be watched on La Liga TV, will bring a close to Villarreal’s intense Australian tour. Following their hard-fought victory over Adelaide United, the Spanish side’s players will be looking for another win to show their gratitude to the warm welcome extended to them by supporters and institutions alike during their LaLiga World tour.
