Banco Santander served up a special experience at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to warm up for this weekend's Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. The bank brought the Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen and Marc Gene together with LaLiga Santander ambassadors Fernando Morientes, Christian Karembeu and Marcos Senna for a spot of friendly competition.
Three teams made up of one driver and one former footballer were formed to contest the Santander Challenge, which consisted of three events (karting, football and a quiz about F1 and the beautiful game). The Raikkonen-Karembeu pairing ran out the winners with nine points. Vettel and Morientes came in second with seven points, while Gene and Senna finished last with three.
The karting kicked off the proceedings, with Vettel and Morientes racing into the lead. In the football event, in which the drivers were tasked with exhibiting their skills and scoring goals with the help of the LaLiga Santander ambassadors, Raikkonen put his foot down and earned his team the most points. Lastly, Raikkonen and Karembeu sealed victory by triumphing in the quiz.
