How to break every record going in 21 matchdays

The 21 matchdays that have been played in the Liga Adelante have brought good football, thrills, goals and – above all – records. A lot of records. Historic marks that make the competition one of the most exciting in Europe and have given the fans moments that will live long in the memory.

A prime example of this is the feat achieved by R. Sporting, who set a record of 20 matchdays without defeat at the start of a Liga Adelante campaign. An unprecedented exploit that is all the more impressive if you take a look at the squad: each of their players came up through the club’s youth academy.

Club records

And added to this terrific run is the fact that the sportinguistas are the only side in the division alongside CD Leganés who have not conceded more than two goals in a match this season. A record that the Madrid-based outfit can feel especially proud of on their return to the Liga Adelante following a ten-year absence.

SD Ponderradina are the other major name of the first half of the campaign. Over the recent months, the team from El Bierzo – who finished last year fighting to avoid relegation – have put together the best first half to a season in their history, claiming 32 points and remaining unbeaten on home turf. El Toralín is the only stadium that has not been breached this term.

Another of Spain’s historic clubs have enjoyed the chance to improve their figures during the 2014-15 season. With 40 for and 21 against, UD Las Palmas have sealed their best goals record in the Liga Adelante. Never before have they conceded so few and scored so many. Their previous best came in the 1997-98 season, when they hit 37 goals.

Outstanding individuals

Alongside all these team records are the fantastic feats posted by some of the players in the Liga Adelante. The sharp-shooting of Rubén Castro and the 15 goals he has picked up on the first 21 matchdays have seen him become the highest scorer in R. Betis’s history. Meanwhile, the forward Sergio Araujo claimed the best ever goalscoring start by a Las Palmas player thanks to his seven strikes over the first five matchdays.
