The former Alavés and current Athletic striker Borja Viguera has won the prize of 'Best forward in the 2013-14 Liga Adelante'. The 25 goals he grabbed meant that he was the league’s top scorer and his attacking prowess meant that he took one of the most prestigious awards away from the '2014 LFP Awards Ceremony'.
Borja Viguera scored 25 times in 42 Liga Adelante goals at an average of 0.59 per game, showing the Alavés man’s quality. He did not miss a single game last season, and helped save his side from relegation with a goal on the final day of the season against Real Jaén CF.
After recording his best-ever season as a professional, the forward changed Mendizorroza for San Mamés and now plies his trade in Liga BBVA. His eye for goal, physical presence and heading ability are some of his main qualities. They are qualities that have seen him lift the ‘Best forward in the 2013-14 Liga Adelante' Award ahead of the other nominees Kike García and Stefan Šćepović.
"First I'd like to thank my teammates at Alavés, the whole of Vitoria. Also
my family, my friends and my girlfriend, the person who accompanies me
through the most difficult times."
