Valencia CF 0-0 RCD Espanyol

An inspired performance from Espanyol goalkeeper Miriam de Francisco (Mimi), including a stunning double-save in the opening exchanges of the second half, kept Valencia at bay at the Antonio Puchades Stadium and ensured that this one finished honours even.

Although Las Che launched wave after wave of attacks, Mimi was equal to everything that was thrown at her, earning the visitors a precious point in their bid to edge away from the lower reaches of the table.

Atletico Madrid 5-1 Zaragoza CFF

Angel Villacampa's charges produced a commanding display to dispatch Zaragoza at the Cerro del Espino and underscore their title credentials.

Everyone in a red and white shirt was at the top of their game as goals from Marta Corredera, Amanda Sampedro, Genoveva Añonman and Sonia Bermudez (2) secured a comfortable victory for the league leaders. Gloria Villamayor's effort for the away side proved nothing more than a consolation.

Santa Teresa CD 2-0 FC Barcelona

Juan Carlos Antuñez's troops sent shockwaves through the division by upsetting Barcelona in an impressive fashion. Maddi Torre tapped the team from Badajoz ahead from close range midway through the first half and, although the high-flying Catalans dominated possession and had several half-chances to hit back, Maria de los Angeles Martin (better known as Chica) sealed the deal with around a quarter of an hour to go.

The result was no less than Santa Teresa deserved for a showing full of hunger, enthusiasm and grit.

Granadilla Egatesa 0-1 Real Sociedad

It is now two wins on the spin for the San Sebastian outfit, who have a resolute look about them right now and seem set to keep climbing the standings if they carry on in the same vein.

Granadilla did not make it easy for the Basques in what was a keenly fought battle, but Ane Etxezarreta's solitary strike left Noelia Ramos grasping at thin air to tilt the balance in the visitors' favour.

Levante UD 1-2 Rayo Vallecano

Rayo Vallecano remain determined to clinch a Copa de la Reina berth and their current league standing certainly backs up their bid.

After suffering defeats at the hands of Valencia and Atletico, the visitors were desperate not to drop any more points against third-placed Levante, and eventually ran out deserved winners. Natalia Pablos and Paula Lopez Muñoz notched the crucial goals, while Charlyn Corral netted for the hosts.

Oiartzun KE 2-1 F. Albacete

Back-to-back wins for Oiartzun have lifted them out of the relegation zone, with the home victory against Albacete worth its weight in gold.

The hosts opened the scoring in the first half at the Karla Lekuona, when Carolina Gonzalez latched on to Anne Mugarza's ball over the top. Macarena Portales levelled up the score after half-time, but Eguzkiñe Peña popped up with a dramatic 94th-minute winner to earn the Basque outfit all three points.

Athletic Club 4-0 Sporting Huelva

The champions racked up a convincing victory to gain ground on fourth-placed Valencia. A close encounter was expected, but Athletic made light work of the visitors, with goals by Yulema Corres, Joana Flaviano, Nekane Diez and Eunate Arraiza.

Meanwhile, Sporting dropped out of the Copa de la Reina qualifying positions, after both Santa Teresa and Rayo picked up wins, leapfrogging the Andalusian side in the table.

Real Betis 2-3 UD Tacuense

Seville played host to a real goal fest which saw Tacuense register a long-awaited first win in the Liga Iberdrola this season.

Celia Ruano struck first against Betis, but Laura Gonzalez equalised for the home side just three minutes later. Nisa Perez put Tacuense back in front at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol in the second half, before Patricia Ojeda opened up a two-goal cushion for the visitors from the penalty spot. Claudia Roldan cut the arrears for Betis but, despite piling on the pressure, the equaliser did not end up materialising.
