The pre-season for the Liga BBVA teams is shaping up. Whilst teams such as Valencia CF, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad or RC Deportivo are already fully immersed in preparative games for the 2015/16 season ahead Levante UD y RCD Espanyol took part in the summer football action for the first time this weekend.
Levante, the 'granota' team, was up the earliest on Saturday to play a friendly match in the Valencian town of Buñol against the under 21's of Celtic from Glasgow. Lucas Alcaraz's team took home a win of 3-0 in an exciting match that set the stage for a promising season to come.

For another consecutive year Espanyol took on a mixed team from the Val d'Aran in a match that has become a new tradition. The 'perico' team, Espanyol, lived up to all expectations and totally dominated the game for a 0-9 in which Felipe Caicedo, Paco Montañés, Javi López, Mamadou and Salva Sevilla were the goal scorers.
In another rehearsal match Valencia successfully controlled their second date of the summer calendar and were proclaimed Sub-Champions of the Audi Quattro Cup of Salzburgo. Despite having beaten Southampton FC 0-1 in the semi-final, Nuno Espírito Santo's team lost on penalties in the final against SV Werder Bremen.
Athletic, after taking their first game 0-14, were not able to repeat their success and conceded a 1-all-draw against FC Krasnodar. In the idyllic Austrian Alps Ernesto Valverde took the opportunity to try out all of his squad and put their youthful spirit to the test. This strategy produced a goal, after a corner, by Guillermo Fernández.
