Following on from the international break for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, LaLiga Santander was back with a bang this weekend and with it all the fun of LaLiga Fantasy MARCA.
After a weekend of breath-taking football and thrilling excitement, it's now time to take stock and look back on what proved to be a pulsating weekend of Matchday 3 action. Of the top performers from the latest round of fixtures, it's Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann who scoops the Player of the Matchday crown, courtesy of his 23-point display against RC Celta. The Rojiblancos' forward earned his place at the top of the rankings after a quite sensational performance at Balaidos in which he netted twice and laid on another.
Griezmann isn't however the only Atletico player to have secured his place in the Matchday 3 Best XI, the Frenchman is joined by teammate Koke, who opened the scoring for Diego Simeone's side in Vigo in a showing which saw him rack up 17 points. Besides Atletico, there are three other teams who are also represented by two players in this week's Best XI: Villarreal CF, Real Betis and Real Madrid.
Sergio Asenjo takes his place between the sticks after his heroics in Villarreal's win over Malaga CF, whilst the three-man defence in front of him is made up of Joseba Zaldua (15 points), Jaume Costa (13) and Danilo (12).
Lining up alongside Koke in the middle third are CD Leganes man Omar Ramos, who amassed 13 points, and two others who this weekend got their names on the scoresheet en route to claiming 14 points: Joaquin and Luka Modric .
Meanwhile, the pick of the strikers - who notched five goals between them this weekend - come together to form a potent-looking forward line. Player of the Matchday, Griezmann and Betis's Ruben Castro both bagged braces, whilst Duje Cop was on target for R.Sporting in their 2-1 triumph over Leganes.
