Eduardo Berizzo is the new coach of Athletic Club

Athletic Club have appointed Eduardo Berizzo to be their first-team coach for next season, the Basque club said on Thursday. The Argentine replaces Jose Angel Ziganda and has agreed a contract until 30 June 2019.

Berizzo, 48, has extensive experience of coaching in LaLiga Santander. After starting out as an assistant to former Athletic Club boss Marcelo Bielsa with the Chile national team, he took the Helm at Estudiantes de la Plata in Argentina and O’Higgins in Chile. Later, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean to work in LaLiga Santander, coaching RC Celta for three years, before a spell with Sevilla FC last season.
