Cape Town has dressed up to the nines to welcome LaLiga to South Africa where it will broadcast a live football match from the country for the very first time. The city is just getting warmed up to welcome all the emotion of Spanish football to the African continent.
LaLiga is continuing with its global expansion plans and this Saturday Cape Town's 3000-capacity Sea Point Promenade Park will play host to #LaLigaCapeTown, a one-off event that will bring together thousands of people to watch the Matchday 26 Liga BBVA Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
The event, which is free, kicks off at 13:00 and the attendees will enjoy numerous activities on what promises to be an unforgettable day for Spanish football lovers. The main attraction will be the mammoth screen which will show the game between Madridistas and Colchoneros from 17:00 (local time).
LaLiga president, Javier Tebas, will attend the event which is yet another step in the competition's international expansion. Two of the Liga BBVA ambassadors, former Spain international and Valencia CF, Gaizka Mendieta, and former Netherlands international and FC Barcelona striker, Patrick Kluivert, have also confirmed their presence.
Alongside them, some of the best-known faces in South African sport, like local ambassador and South Africa international, Stanton 'Stiga' Fredericks, will also be at the event. Attendees will be able to see their heroes up close, ask for autographs, take part in a series of workshops and participate in a competition to win a trip to Spain to watch a LaLiga game next season in what promises to be an unforgettable day for South African football fans.
