Villarreal CF sealed their second win in Liga BBVA with a 4-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the fourth round of competition. The Yellows, who were down 0-2, came back in sensational style, with young striker Luciano Vietto bagging two from the bench.
The Madrid side could not have dreamed over starting the game in a better fashion, scoring twice inside the first half hour. Gäel Kakuta put the first one away on 22 minutes with a header, while Alberto Bueno made it 2-0 on the stroke of the half hour, capitalising on a loose ball in the area. Despite being down, Villarreal did not give up, and they managed to halve the deficit quickly via Javier Espinosa. The Yellows almost drew level before the break, but Ikechuwku Uche hit the post after beating Cristian Álvarez.
The intensity of the game stayed high in the second half, starting with a great piece team play from Villarreal which saw Denis Cheryshev miss from close range. However Marcelino García Toral's side soon levelled up through Mateo Musacchio on 63 minutes. Vietto's appearance from the bench gave Villarreal a lift, and it was the youngster who scored his side's third and fourth goals of the match.
