"Iker leaves, but his example remains"

After a weekend full of feeling and farewells, the White Club commemorated the person who has been its goalkeeper for 16 seasons, in an event where emotion was the protagonist once more.

"The best goalkeeper in Real Madrid and in the history of Spanish football leaves", assured the president, Florentino Perez, at the beginning of his appearance. Before giving way to the protagonist of the day, the leader wanted to emphasize everything that Casillas means for the White team, and dedicated a profound farewell: "Iker leaves and he is irreplaceable, but his example remains".

After the Club’s words of affection, the player took the floor and left a last message: "I am left with the good things, and I will try to be an ambassador for Real Madrid wherever I go". Lastly, he thanked the support of the followers with an emotive "thanks to all madridismo". 

Before heading to FC Porto, Casillas had time to step on the Santiago Bernabeu’s pitch and pose together with the 19 titles that he has achieved with the white shirt. There, surrounded by the warm applauses of the stands full of followers, he said “see you later” to a stadium that awaits for his tribute match.
