Sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to extend his contract, which was due to expire in June 2014. The Catalan side have secured Zubizarreta’s services for two more years, extending his contract until the 30th of June 2016. The official signing will take place over the next few days.
The sporting director is currently enjoying his fourth season at Barcelona, during which he has appointed two managers, Tito Vilanova and Gerardo Martino. His first signing was Adriano Correia, before adding defender Javier Mascherano and central midfielder Ibrahim Afellay to the ranks. The following year he was responsible for the signings of Cesc Fábregas and Chilean forward Alexis Sánchez.
The signings didn’t stop there, as he added left back Jordi Alba and midfielder Alex Song to the Catalan’s squad, before making his biggest signing to date this summer, Brazilian forward Neymar, an icon in Brazil and a star of Liga BBVA
