Rayo Vallecano and Málaga CF play each other in round 23 of Liga BBVA fixtures in what is sure to be an exciting tie at Vallecas. Málaga, who downed Sevilla FC in an Andalusian derby last weekend, need to win to move away from the danger zone. Rayo, for their part, will be looking to build on their draw with Levante UD.
The Madrid side, who sit second bottom in the Liga BBVA table, are looking to take another positive step as they try to escape the relegation places. Jonathan Viera joins the long list of absentees for the home side with a muscle problem. Paco Jémez said that Saturday is “possibly the most important game of the season so far”. The manager also used to opportunity to appeal to his side’s fans: “We’re asking all rayistas to come and support us. We will try to pay you back with a very important win”.
They face a Málaga side who, after beating Sevilla last time out, are looking for three points to keep them away from the danger zone. “Now we have to put together a run of consecutive wins and leave our rivals behind”, said their manager Bernd Schuster. Málaga will be without Weligton and Roque Santa Cruz through injury and Duda, who is suspended.
