Previously… José Ángel Ziganda (Larrainzar, Navarra, 1966) was a goalscorer who began his career with At Osasuna. Later, the Navarran spent time at Athletic Club.

His achievements… During seven seasons with the side from Pamplona and another seven with the Bilbao team as a professional player, ‘Cuco’ Ziganda celebrated a total of 145 goals with his teammates.

After hanging up his boots… In 2001 at 34 years of age, ‘Cuco’ retired as a footballer, but continued to be tied to the two clubs that saw him grow as a player. He coached at the Osasuna academy and, a season later, in 2006, he made his debut in the Liga BBVA coaching the first team. He then went onto manage Xerez CD before arriving in his current position as coach of Bilbao Athletic, the youth team of Athletic Club.

Did you know… This Navarran striker played two times for Spain. His debut was in 1991 in a friendly against Romania, where Spain lost 0-2. His second chance would be three years later when he came on as a substitute against Cyprus in a match Spain won 2-1.
