LUN 20.10.2014

Previously… Vicente Valcarce Cano (b. Las Palmas, 1974) was a Canary Islands-born footballer who started his career at Real Madrid Castilla, but made a name for himself in the ranks of Málaga CF, the club he played at for a decade.

His achievements... Valcarce only a single title as a professional footballer. It was with the Andalusian club in the 2002/03 season, when the Boquerones lifted the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The left back also participated with the club in the UEFA Cup, in which they almost made the semi-finals, were it not for a fateful penalty shoot-out.

After hanging up his boots... He retired in the 2007/08 season as a Málaga player and remained involved with the club after hanging up his boots. He went from the field to the offices as a member of the management team at La Rosaleda. He was the Costa del Sol side’s match day delegate, a position he held until last summer.

Did you know...? Like many footballers, Valcarce is a sports fan. In 2010, after giving up football, he took part in the famous Ironman Triathlon. Valcarce completed the race in over ten hours, finishing in 550th place.
