Previously… Fernando Muñoz García (Sevilla, 1967), better known as Nando, is a Spanish ex-footballer. A defender, he played for such teams as Seville, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Espanyol.

His achievements… Nando’s career was littered with successes. Starting out with Seville, he was then signed by Johan Cruyff for his Barcelona ‘Dream Team’. He won a Champions League and two league titles with the Azulgranas, before crossing over to Real Madrid, where, in just three and a half seasons, he won a further league title, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup. He spent the final phase of his career at Espanyol, spending five seasons at the Catalan side and winning one Copa del Rey.

After hanging up his boots… Having retired in the 2000-01 season, at 33 years of age, unlike other ex-players he then moved away from the game altogether, becoming a businessman instead.

Did you know… He won eight caps for Spain, making his debut on September 12th, 1990, against Brazil, a match that ended 3-0 to a Spain side managed by Luis Suárez Miramontes.
