What became of… Joan Barbará

We go over the career of the Sabadell and Salamanca legend.

Previously… Joan Barbará was a Catalan forward who played for 19 years. He started out at UE Sants before playing for Sabadell, Salamanca, Lleida and L'Hospitalet, his local club and where he decided to call it a day. He played for five seasons in Liga BBVA and nine in Liga Adelante.

His achievements… He is a Salamanca legend. He played there for eight seasons and was a pillar during their golden era. He played more than 100 games in Liga BBVA, three seasons with Salamanca and two with Sabadell, scoring 16 goals. He also spent nine seasons in Liga Adelante, five at Sabadell and four at Salamanca, where he played almost 300 games and scored 66 times.

After hanging up his boots… He retired in 2003 after spending his last season at local club L'Hospitalet in Segunda División B. After that he started life as a coach and was Luis Enrique's assistant during the Asturian's time as Barcelona B manager, and was also assistant to Eusebio Sacristán. He is currently the assistant manager to Luis Enrique at Barcelona, who he joined last summer.

Did you know… Joan Barbará is one of the most remembered players by Salamanca's fans. He signed for them in 1993 with them in Segunda B and was one of the main reasons behind their back-to-back promotions to Liga BBVA.
