Previously… Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Paramaribo, 1972) was a Dutch footballer who wore the shirt of Atlético Madrid for one season, chalking up a tally of 24 goals in 34 matches in the Liga BBVA. Hasselbaink also played for his country's national team, scoring nine times.

His achievements… The Suriname-born Dutchman did not enjoy a prolific career in terms of trophies, winning only the Portuguese Cup with Boavista FC. However, having made his mark as a fearsome striker wherever he plied his trade, there is no shortage of goals on his CV. During his years in the Premier League, Hasselbaink won the division’s Golden Boot on two occasions; once each with Leeds United and Chelsea FC.

After hanging up his boots… His playing days came to a close after the 2007/2008 season but, as is the case with many footballers, he remained involved in the game. In 2013 he embarked upon his first managerial adventure with Belgian club Royal Antwerp FC, and is now at the helm of English League Two team Burton Albion.

Did you know… His most memorable moment as an Atlético Madrid player came in a two-goal display in los rojiblancos' 1-3 victory over Real Madrid in the 1999/2000 season.
