Weligton rescues Málaga

Villarreal CF drew with Málaga CF who scored in the dying minutes to make it 1-1. The result means that the Yellows occupy fourth position with 28 points, while the blanquiazules are in fourteenth with 14.

Early on the visitors were more willing to move forward but their ambition began to falter as the home team, Villarreal, began to emerge from their shell, growing in stature as the clock ticked on. Their new-found confidence resulted in a great combination between 'Cani' and Bruno Soriano in the middle of the pitch which led to a goal from the latter to make it 1-0.

After the restart, it was Málaga, aware that they had some chasing to do, who took an initiative that they held on to for the entire second half. Midfielder Pedro Morales had the best chance to level the match but Sergio Asenjo, the home keeper, was up to the task. In the last minute, defender Weligton rescued a point for the visitors by making it 1-1.
