RCD Mallorca beat Tenerife 2-0 on the 30th matchday of the Liga Adelante. Through goals from Marco Asensio and Thomas Partey, one in each half, the Balearic team claimed a vital win to end their poor run of seven games without a victory. Tenerife, meanwhile, remain in seventh place awaiting other results.
The encounter started with both teams playing at a high tempo and looking to reach their opponents' goal. Gerard Moreno had two good chances to put the bermellones ahead early on, while Aridane Santana was also close to scoring for the Canary Islands side with a long shot that skimmed the crossbar. After the initial sizing-up, the home team took control and they finally found their reward in the 26th minute through Marco Asensio. Mallorca's academy player took advantage of a defensive error to control the ball in the box and calmly beat the keeper with a low drive to the far post.
After the break, Tenerife stepped up the intensity and persistently sought the equaliser. But Mallorca were able to keep out the danger and sealed the match with an extraordinary goal from Thomas Partey to make it 2-0 in the 71st minute with a great strike from outside the box.
