UD Almería and Villarreal CF meet on matchday 27 of the Liga BBVA. Juan Ignacio Martínez’s team need a win to climb the table and escape from the relegation zone, but the quality of opposition that they face means it’ll be no easy task.
Marcelino García Toral's side are enjoying a terrific period of form in the league, and sit in sixth after picking up two wins and a draw in their last three matches. Their most recent victory came against RC Celta, when they put on a top display to run out 4-1 winners.
Team news
The visitors will be without the injured Bruno Soriano, Víctor Ruiz and Adrián Marín. Almería approach this crucial fixture with Javi Espinosa, Rubén Martínez and Ximo Navarro absent, while Míchel Macedo, Edgar Méndez and Thievy Bifouma return.
Views from the dugout
"We have to show Villarreal with our performance on the pitch, rather than our words, that they’re up against an Almería who really need points," declared Martínez in his pre-match press conference. "This Sunday’s three points are vital for survival." Away boss Marcelino, meanwhile, said: "We have to treat this match as if it were the last, like all the games left from here on in; because we’re now in the home stretch of the season."
