- Los Amarillosare looking for a win to redeem themselves after losing two games on the trot, one in LaLiga Santander against SD Eibar (2-1) and another in the Europa League. However, on the bright side, they have gone five games unbeaten at El Madrigal.

- A Champions League place is Villarreal's priority this season. A win would put them on 22 points, above Sevilla FC and level on points with FC Barcelona ahead of the clash between the two teams at the end of the matchday.
