Real Valladolid CF defeated RCD Mallorca 2-1 in a match in which the Pucelanos were very lively and had plenty of chances against a Bermellones team who woke up after a goal from Pau Cendrós, but were unable to complete their fightback.
The home side went out all guns blazing and quickly dictated the pace of the game. Joan Francesc 'Rubi' Ferrer's men, making a great start to their Liga Adelante campaign, took their attacking game to the opposition through Jeffren Suárez's runs. The first goal came from a corner taken by the Venezuelan player when a rebound off Cendrós made it 1-0.
After the break, Valladolid continued with their momentum from the first half, culminating in Óscar's goal. The midfielder scored from a rebound in the area to extend their lead. With Pep LLuís Martí on the field, Valeri Karpin's fought their way back into the match and in the 64th minute Cendrós made up for his first-half own goal with a perfect finish from a corner. Visiting striker Marco Asensio hit the post in the dying moments, but the score remained the same and the three points stayed at the José Zorrilla Municipal Stadium.
