Saturday's Liga BBVA matchday 22 action left a lot to talk about. The league leader, Barcaelona, was beaten at home, while Málaga came out on top in the Andalusian derby to move even further away from the danger zone in a day notable for the amount of draws.
The biggest shock of the day came in the Camp Nou, where Valencia came back from behind to beat Barcelona 3-2. Dani Parejo, Pablo Piatti and Paco Alcácer cancelled out Alexis Sánchez and Lionel Messi’s goals. With this result, the Catalans may drop from top spot in the table depending on Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid’s results on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Levante and Rayo Vallecano were held to a scoreless draw in a match full of action in the Ciutat de València. The game was also a first glimpse at Samuele Longo in a Rayo jersey. The spoils were shared in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez as well, as neither Getafe or Valladolid were able to find the back of the net, a result which means the latter slips into the relegation zone.
The last game of the day saw Málaga deservedly triumph in the Andalusian derby against Sevilla (3-2). As well as a Sergio Duda brace, there were goals from Samuel, Federico Fazio and Carlos Bacca.
