As a result of a partnership agreement signed last April between the president of LaLiga Javier Tebas and Shehu Dikko, chairman of the League Management Company of Nigeria, an All Star team from the Nigeria Professional Football League will head to Spain to take on Valencia CF on 10 August at 21:30.
The match will be held at the Estadio Luis Suñer Pico, located south of Valencia in the town of Alzira. This fixture is part of LaLiga World, an initiative through which LaLiga aims to further develop and promote Spanish football, and in this case, to help the future growth of football in countries like Nigeria.
This All Star side from the Nigerian league will consist of a squad of 22 players, chosen by the coaches of the teams taking part in LaLiga World. The 22 players selected will have the chance to pit their wits against Valencia CF, one of LaLiga’s legendary clubs, who have already taken part in LaLiga World tours in Hong Kong, Peru, Chile, USA and Germany.
The money raised from this game will be go towards repairing the damage caused by the forst fires suffered in parts of the region in June. The help will be channelled towards the local councils of the areas affected through the Valencia provincial government.
