Unai Emery, Liga BBVA manager of the month for January

Sevilla are sitting in fourth place in the Liga BBVA thanks in large part to their man in the dugout: Unai Emery. The Basque coach has lead his team to four victories in five league games in the first month of the new year, earning him the BBVA Award for 'Manager of the Month for January', chosen by the official website of the LFP and given out by BBVA, the league's main sponsor.

Only Nuno Espírito Santo's Valencia CF have been able to put the breaks on the Andalusian side in January, with RC Celta, UD Almería, Málaga CF and RCD Espanyol all losing to Sevilla, who, because of their superb form, have climbed into the UEFA Champions League spots. At the end of the month Sevilla had a record of nine goals for and three against in five matches, numbers that speak of their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
