- Jorge Sampaoli's men have not been enjoying their best spell of the season of late. They return to the Sanchez Pizjuan on the back of a painful defeat at the Camp Nou and have not won a game since they played Athletic at home (1-0) six matchdays ago.
- "We have to win on Saturday, whatever it takes," assured Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra after the loss to FC Barcelona. Sampaoli's players are well aware that Deportivo stand between them and third place in table.

- The current mood in A Coruña is no rosier. Pepe Mel's side have suffered two defeats and only managed one draw in their last three matches. They desperately need three points against Sevilla if they are to distance themselves from the drop zone.
- Deportivo were a whisker away from getting the result they needed on the last matchday against Granada. However, Memo Ochoa saved Celso Borges' spot-kick to secure a share of the points for the Andalusians. The Depor manager was none too happy with his players' performance. "If you gift them half an hour in a game like that, you give them the advantage," said Mel in his post-match press conference.
