No more room for slip ups. That’s the message for both SD Eibar and FC Barcelona ahead of their meeting on matchday 27 in the Liga BBVA. Gaizka Garitano’s side are in a delicate situation as they have been unable to pick up a single point in the second half of the season. They will be up against a jubilant Barcelona who reclaimed top spot from Real Madrid CF last week and are now aspiring to win all three trophies.
Team news
Eibar will be without midfielder Dani García as he was sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Levante, and striker Ángel Rodríguez is also unavailable. Barcelona are weakened in defence as first-choice full-backs Dani Alves and Jordi Alba are suspended and Thomas Vermaelen is still injured, and Luis Enrique is still without defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets.
View from the dugouts
Eibar coach Gaizka Garitano is aware how difficult the game will be but stressed how important it was for his team to pick up points. "We are in desperate need and we cannot afford to gift Barcelona the game. We are more in need of points than they are", he said.
Luis Enrique meanwhile insisted that, although his team face Manchester City and Real Madrid in the next nine days, his side are only focused on Eibar. He said: "As we are the league leaders we have to win this game in order to have every chance of winning the title".
