The Liga Iberdrola and women's football will be more present than ever at this year's #PremiosLaLiga Gala on 24 October in Valencia, at which LaLiga will be taking yet another step forward in its support for the female game by presenting its inaugural Top Goalscorer in the Liga Iberdrola award.
LaLiga started stepping up its commitment to women's football last season when it founded the Association of Women's Football Clubs, as well as creating an exclusive space on laliga.es and broadcasting matches on LaLiga TV. As well as that, the 16 clubs that make up Spain's top flight were represented at last November's #PremiosLaLiga Gala in Barcelona.
LaLiga has strengthened its backing for women's football this season. Aside from the above, it will give its inaugural Top Goalscorer in the Liga Iberdrola award to FC Barcelona's Jenni Hermoso. The Spain international netted 24 times in the league last term to head the goal charts. With this accolade, LaLiga recognises all the hard work done by women footballers, as well as their effort and sacrifice, as part of its continued push to develop the female game in Spain.
