FC Barcelona travel to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to take on Sevilla FC for matchday 31 of the Liga BBVA. A crucial game for Barca in terms of consolidating their points lead over Real Madrid, the second-placed team in the division. Meanwhile, the Andalusians have been in flying form of late, and a win could see them occupying one of the UEFA Champions League spots by the end of the weekend.
Team news
Beto and Sebastián Carlos Cristóforo are both injured for the home team. The Catalans will still be without the sidelined Thomas Vermaelen, however, Jordi Alba, who has recovered from injury, and Sergio Busquets, who was serving a one-match ban, are available for Luis Enrique.
Views from the dugouts
In his pre-match press conference, Unai Emery indicated that his team’s main objective is "putting in a great performance". The Sevilla coach did not go into details about his possible starting line-up as, according to him, "playing against the top team is not the same as playing the bottom-placed side". Elsewhere, Luis Enrique emphasised that "a draw would not be a good result" for Barcelona. He also spoke in glowing terms about his counterpart in the opposite dugout: "One of Emery's greatest attributes is his ability to adapt to the players he has".
