Atlético - FC Barcelona, another essential appointment
Another of the highlights of the season will come on the 3rd match day. A duel, on and off the pitch. Diego Pablo Simeone and his men will receive Luis Enrique’s team on 13th September, while the arrival of the Red and Whites in the Camp Nou will take place on the 31st January.
Early Bird Basque derby
Destiny has required that the paths of Real Sociedad and Athletic will cross in the 6th match day of the calendar. A date which corresponds with 27th September, and which concludes in the second instalment on 21st February.
Madrid is all decked out in Week 7
The long-awaited derby between Athlético and Real Madrid will have its first episode in week 7, in the first weekend of October. The return is to be reserved for 28th February, in a crucial point of the season.
El Clásico, in November and April
All looks will be fixed upon El Clásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, which will be celebrated this season in weeks 12 and 31, respectively. The reunion of two old Liga BBVA teams
R. Sporting and UD Las Palmas will be the new faces in Liga BBVA after years of fighting and sacrifice far from the top flight. This is why both of them have red marks next to their encounters this year: 6th December in El Molinón and on 20th April in Gran Canaria.
Seville will have their derby
In the wake of Betis’ arrival from Liga Adelante, the Sevillian city will gear itself up to receive its two big teams in a derby which will be celebrated, firstly on 20th December, close to the Christmas break, and will be held once again at the end of the Seville Fair, on May 1st.
A penultimate week of heart attacks
The home strait of Liga BBVA seems very exciting. Next to the Catalan derby, which will be played on match day 37, the calendar also has a clash in store between Valencia and Real Madrid in which there will be everything to play for. Seville – Granada CF, Real Sociedad – Rayo Vallecano and Celta – Málaga CF are some of the other games to watch out for.
Other dates to keep in mind
In addition to the vibrant dates, which Liga BBVA offers, one cannot overlook the top moments of the season, like the Club World Cup, to take place in Japan between 10th and 20th December; the final of the Copa del Rey, Saturday 7th May; and the final of the UEFA Champions League, on Saturday 28th May.
