The Sinatra Park Soccer Field, located on the banks of the Hudson within the modern Hoboken[R1] district of New Jersey and a short distance from Manhattan, once again plays host to the LaLiga Promises International Tournament. This, the fifth edition of the competition will be staged at the same venue as both of the past two instalments. The first helping was held in Barranquilla in 2015, whilst Miami was the chosen setting second time round.
The ball will get rolling on Friday 28 June at 09:30 local time (15:30 CET). The group stage begins on the opening day and concludes on Saturday, when the action gets under way at the same time. Meanwhile, the quarter-final stage starts on Saturday at 11:30 (17:30 CET). The tournament semis will be contested from 10:00 on Sunday (16:00 CET), with the showpiece set to kick off at 13:00 (19:00 CET).
This year's lineup features eight Spanish sides, two US clubs, a pair of Mexican representatives and one Italian, English, Chinese and Portuguese team apiece.
The following eight clubs will fly the flag for LaLiga: defending champions RCD Espanyol, Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, Real Betis, Real Madrid, Sevilla FC, Valencia CF and Villarreal CF. Meanwhile, Hoboken City FC will act as hosts and they'll be joined by their cross-city counterparts from New York City FC.
CD Guadalajara and Club America will bring some Mexican spice to proceedings and the 16-team field is completed by tournament newcomers Guangzhou R&F and three of the most distinguished academies in the world game: Inter Milan, SL Benfica and Liverpool FC.
The 16 participating sides are divided up into 4 four-team groups. After a round-robin group stage, in which the matches will be played across 12-minute halves, the two best-placed teams from each group will advance to the last eight. The semi-finals and final will be contested across 40 minutes, featuring 20-minute halves, as the pick of the world's starlets bid to be crowned LaLiga Promises Santander International Tournament champions.
