Champions' stats

FC Barcelona have been crowned LaLiga Santander winners in eight of the last 11 seasons (2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2017/18 and 2018/19), the same number of title triumphs the club secured across the previous 23 campaigns. Lionel Messi now holds the Barcelona club record as the player with the most LaLiga Santander crowns to his name (10), surpassing Andres Iniesta's nine-title haul. The only man now lying ahead of the Argentine ace in the history of the competition is Paco Gento (12), whilst he sits level with former Real Madrid star Jose Martinez Pirri on 10 titles.

Messi became the player to have recorded the most LaLiga Santander wins (339), after exceeding Iker Casilla's tally (334). What's more, the Argentine etched his name into the history books as the first player in LaLiga Santander history to hit the 400-goal mark, ending the campaign on 419 strikes. Messi also overtook Cristiano Ronaldo (416) as the leading all-time goalscorer across the five major European leagues.

 

Teams

 Valencia CF drew 16 times over the course of the league season. This represents their joint-highest number of top-flight draws after 16 of their games during the 2004/05 also ended all square.

Getafe CF amassed 59 points last term, which is the club's best-ever top-flight return.

 

Players

Jan Oblak (beaten 27 times) joined Victor Valdes as the only custodian in LaLiga Santander history to have finished a fourth successive campaign as the shotstopper to have conceded the fewest goals in a season featuring over 30 league appearances. Sergio Ramos notched the 100th goal of his career (105), 84 of which have come in Real Madrid colours. Between the goals he struck for Los Blancos (11) and the Spanish national team (five) during the 2018/19 season, the Seville-born central defender found the net 16 times, making last term his most prolific campaign. Jorge Molina (37 years old) netted 14 LaLiga goals last season, the best goalscoring haul of a player of his age so far this century. Pablo Sarabia was one of only two players to post double figures in goals (12) and assists (13), along with Messi (36 and 13). 

 

Coaches

Ernesto Valverde now lies 10th in the all-time LaLiga Santander rankings of games at the helm (424) and added his name to the seven-strong list of coaches to have overseen 200 wins (201).

Diego Simeone became the first coach in Atletico Madrid's history to manage the club for an eighth consecutive LaLiga Santander season, outdoing Ricardo Zamora, who was in charge of Los Rojiblancos for seven campaigns between 1939 and 1946.
