- He made his Liga BBVA debut as a player for Real Madrid at the tender age of 17. He also graced LaLiga during stints at R. Zaragoza, Atletico Madrid, RCD Espanyol and Real Murcia

- His surname is a distortion of Schneider, the German equivalent of the family name Taylor.

- He was the top scorer at the 1991 South American Under-20 Championship, in which his Argentina team were runners-up.

- He played under some distinguished coaches, including Marcello Lippi, Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Antonio Camacho, Marcelo Bielsa, Victor Fernandez, Leo Beenhakker and Benito Floro.

- He was inspirational in Zaragoza's run to UEFA Cup Winners' Cup glory in the 1994/95 campaign, scoring eight times in nine matches. This return made him the second leading marksman in the competition that season, behind Arsenal's Ian Wright.

- In 1999 he was snapped up by Juventus as a stand-in for Alessandro Del Piero, who had been sidelined with a serious injury.

- He supports Racing Club, the outfit from Avellaneda, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Oddly enough, though, he never plied his trade for them, despite playing for no fewer than 13 different clubs during his career.

- He got his coaching badges in May 2008 and went back to familiar surroundings for his first job at the helm, which was with Zaragoza B. He also had a stint in charge of Cordoba CF.

- He was working as a TV commentator just weeks ago, before getting the call to take the reins at Getafe CF following the sacking of Fran Escriba.

- He had a previous spell on the Getafe coaching staff from 2009 to 2011, as Michel's number two, and helped the Madrilenian club to stay up in both seasons that he was there.
