- Before playing their games in the Estadio de Gran Canaria, UD Las Palmas played in the Estadio Insular, located in the neighbourhood of Ciudad Jardín of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
- The Estadio de Gran Canaria was inaugurated on the 8th May 2003 with a friendly match between UD Las Palmas and RSC Anderlecht, which ended 2-1 in favour of the Canarian team.
- The 6th September of the same year, the yellow side played its first official match. It was against CD Leganés and the game finished at 2-2.
- Las Palmas achieved its 100th victory on this pitch in an official game against Real Jaén (1-0), exactly 10 years since the inauguration of the ground (2013).

- UD Palmas experienced one of its most glorious days in their stadium just over one month ago. The Canarias side played to be promoted into Liga BBVA and brought La Romareda an unfavourable outcome (3-1). Roque Mesa, and Araujo, at five minutes from time, put his team, 13 years later in the top level of Spanish football.
- This building has also been the stage which has hosted matches of the Canarias selection. It was done on 28th December 2007, with Canarias 2-0 Angola.
- The stadium, with more than 32,000 spectators, can be found in the top 20 with the highest capacity in Spain.
- This pitch has also served as host of different musical concerts. Joaquín Sabina and Joan Manuel Serrat, Bruce Springsteen or Shakira are some of the singers who have performed their anthems on the stage of the Estadio de Gran Canaria.
