Match Facts:
Sporting (18th, 13 pts):
- It has now been three weeks since the Asturians parted company with Abelardo Fernandez and his replacement, Rubi, is still searching for his maiden win at the helm. Whilst his first two games in charge yielded a solitary point - following a 2-1 reverse to Athletic Club and a goalless stalemate against Real Betis -, the new boss has at least managed to tighten up the Rojiblancos' leaky backline.
- The Sporting faithful will be looking forward to seeing some of the club's new recruits in action, with Elderson Echiéjilé, Mikel Vesga and Lacina Traore all in with a chance of making their debuts here.
Alaves (12th, 24 pts):
- After having claimed a goalless draw in their Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg clash against RC Celta, the Basques' dream of making it through to the showpiece is still very much alive. Mauricio Pellegrino's troops will be eager to put a further three points on the board upon their return to LaLiga Santander action as they bid to edge themselves closer to the European spots.
- Alaves are a tough nut to crack on the road, with the Vitoria-based outfit having succumbed to defeat just once in their last five away trips (W2 D2).
