El Molinon factor in final furlong
R. Sporting once more grabbed all three points in a big game in front of their fans, having recently put both Atletico Madrid and Sevilla FC to the sword 2-1 in Gijon. Abelardo's side have been scrapping for survival at El Molinon and the stadium will witness their last stand of the season too, as it is here that they round off the campaign on the final matchday against Villarreal CF. It will be sink-or-swim time and another 2-0 like this one against SD Eibar would do them nicely.

Eibar in driving seat early doors
The Basques dictated proceedings in the first half. They saw more of the ball, created the better chances and generally outplayed Sporting, but it was the hosts who were more clinical in front of goal. Jota had two opportunities to give the visitors the lead, including a one-on-one, but he failed to take advantage.
More joy for Jony
The Sporting livewire put in another influential performance, chalking up his seventh assist of the season and then chipping in with a goal himself. For the opener just before half-time, Jony ran on to the ball down the flank and, spotting Carlos Carmona in the middle, bent in a perfect cross that was just begging to be headed home – the striker duly obliged. Then, in the latter stages of the second period, it fittingly fell to Jony to seal the spoils, the quicksilver 24-year-old capitalising on a defensive error to race clear and fire into the net.
Eibar pay penalty for lapses
Jose Luis Mendilibar's men were guilty of sloppiness at the back and it cost them dearly. On a couple of occasions several Sporting players were left to their own devices and the home team, ravenous for victory, gave visiting keeper Asier Riego no chance with either goal.
