More than 200 people filled the Concordia College of Adelaide to watch the taekwondo fights between the u21 teams of Spain and Australia. The event was organised by LaLiga with the CSD, the ICEX and the Spanish Government, to the benefit of minority sports.
A number of distinguished local figures attended the event such as the president of Adelaide United, Greg Griffin, and also Spanish representatives such as the embassador of LaLiga, José Luis Astiazarán. The former Spanish taekwondo coach Kyung-Yun Lee, European champion in Denmark in1984 and Valencia in 1992, showed his appreciation at being able to attend such an important event in Australia. The Villarreal CF team did not want to miss the event and listened attentively to the speeches given by the Spanish taekwondo competitors.
The Spanish female team was compromised by Natalia Núñez, Lydia García, Tania García, Rosa Rodríguez and Cecilia Castro, while the male participants were Àlex Falgàs, Javier Pérez, Ramón Ruiz, Daniel Quesada and Jaume Torrens. The teams are coached by Miguel Ángel Herranz and Javier Agudo, acommpanied by physiotherapist Mikel Bernal.
Thanks to the Champions of Spain, the best young Spanish taekwondo competitors have been able to spend 10 days in Australia. They have been able to promote the sport in Australia, combining training with masterclasses and breaking down frontiers through their sport.
