Spanish football says goodbye to Xavi Hernández on social networks

Fellow footballers expressed their gratitude to the midfielder for so many years of football and wished the Barcelona captain good luck for his professional future.

Xavi Hernández announced his goodbye to FC Barcelona and La Liga and in order to play for Qatari side Al-Saad. The footballer’s exit from the Catalan side marks a turning point for Barcelona and Spanish football, and he will be remembered for a long time to come.  That is why different footballers took to social networks to express their feeling toward’s Xavi and left messages for the player born in Tarrasa.

One of the oldest Spanish midfielders of the last few years, Roberto Trashorras, was one of the first to leave his message for the Barcelona captain. "What a legacy you leave behind my friend! Thanks for everything! Don Xavi Hernández", read Trashorras’ goodbye to the player. In addition to the Rayo player, one of the young emerging forces in Spanish football, Denis Suárez, also left a message on a social network. "A mirror to look in both on and off the pitch. Thanks for giving so much to football”, wrote the Galician midfielder.

A former Barcelona teammate, Gerard Deulofeu, said “THANKS FOR EVERYTHING XAVI! #XaviLlegendaE3", while Jordi Codina, Getafe goalkeeper noted “Now that he has announced his departure from @LaLiga, I stand up to applaud Xavi, one of the best players that I have seen #6raciesXavi"

Dani Nieto,  of SD Eibar, said on his Twitter "Thank you for making the difficult look easy #6raciesXavi #genius @FCBarcelona_es" before teammates from the national side and his club such as Pedro Rodríguez, Fernando Torres and Sergio Ramos also paid their tribute to Xavi. The Atlético player said: "A great ends an era, but we will never forget that your football made us so great", along with a photo of him and Xavi, while Ramos wished him good luck in his next destination: "Good luck, pal! We'll miss you. Pure football wherever you play.”

Pedro, meanwhile, thanked the Catalan player, as did Spanish football, "thanks Xavi for everything you’ve given and shown us. Good luck in your new chapter #6raciesXavi", said Pedro, before the official account of the Spanish national side said: "#GraciasXavi for everything you’ve given to Spanish football and to @SeFutbol. Good luck in your new venture! #6raciesXavi".

Another of his teammates over the last few years, Javier Mascherano, wrote: "The player leaves but the legend will remain forever. Thanks Xavi!!!!!” along with a photo of the player at the Camp Nou.
