Spain took yet another step towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia as they thrashed Macedonia 4-0 at Granada's Nuevo Los Carmenes stadium.
As usual, Julen Lopetegui's side's dominant football controlled the game from start to finish. Spain took charge of the match from the kick-off and tried to lay siege to Stole Dimitrievski in the Macedonia goal. Despite dominating possession, the first clear chance of the game fell to the visitors and only a world-class save from David de Gea stopped them from breaking the deadlock. Aside from that intervention, the Spain keeper was rarely called into action as Macedonia struggled to cause the home side any problems. Meanwhile, after several good attacks, Lopetegui's side opened the scoring when Darko Velkoski headed Daniel Carvajal's cross into his own net.

There were few changes after the break as Spain continued to dominate through an inspired Alvaro Morata. This dominance translated into more goals. Sergio Busquets passed to David Silva and the Manchester City man's cross found Victor Vitolo who made it 2-0. Spain's third goal of the game came courtesy of a Nacho Monreal volley, before Aritz Aduriz closed out the scoring from inside the area. The win sees Spain remain top of Group G on 10 points and take another huge step towards World Cup qualification.
