Spain end World Cup campaign with a win

Vicente Del Bosque's side downed Australia 3-0 in their last match at this year's World Cup.

Spain wanted to leave the World Cup in Brazil with a good taste in their mouth. The side beat Australia 3-0 thanks to goals from David Villa, Fernando Torres and Mata.

The match started out quickly and Del Bosque's men took control of play. The first effort came from David Villa, who was the first half’s most impressive figure, but his volley whisked pas the post. Shortly after he backheeled in a Juanfran cross to open the scoring as Spain went in 1-0 up at half time.

After the restart, Spain continued to dominate and create chances. The 2-0 came shortly after. It started with Andrés Iniesta, who played Torres into space, and the number 9 scored La Roja's second of the encounter. In the closing stages of the game, Mata mate it 3-0 to rubber stamp the win over Australia in Spain's last match at the World Cup.
