Soothing victory for Deportivo

RC Deportivo beat Elche CF 1-0 in the game that brought Liga BBVA matchday 15 to a close. The result means that Víctor Fernández's men have ended their run of six games without a victory.

The Galicians took the initiative in the first half and achieved their goal of taking the lead before the break. With few chances for either team, Luis Fariña latched onto a clearance and rifled a spectacular shot into the top-right corner of Przemysław Tytoń's goal. Elche responded and could have equalised after a great cross from Garry Rodrigues but neither Jonathas nor Víctor Rodríguez were able to find the net and the score remained 1-0.

After the restart, Deportivo were the closest to finding another thanks to José Rodríguez, the home side's danger man. His first effort was a superb strike, but goalkeeper Domingo Cisma was up to the task. Later he had another chance but his shot crashed into the crossbar. As the match drew to an end, Elche pressured and home goalkeeper Fabricio had to make two great stops to save his team and maintain the 1-0 scoreline until the final whistle.
