SV Sandhausen 1-2 Sevilla FC
Jorge Sampaoli's Sevilla continue to impress this pre-season. After overcoming River Plate and Independiente Santa Fe during their LaLiga World tour in Orlando, on Sunday they racked up another triumph, this time against Sandhausen in Germany.
However, the LaLiga Santander team did not have it all their own way by any means, falling behind to their 2. Bundesliga opponents in the ninth minute. Sevilla, though, bounced back and went in level at half-time thanks to Yevhen Konoplyanka's equaliser from the penalty spot just before the break. Pablo Sarabia's winner 10 minutes from time ensured that his side came away with another confidence-boosting victory.
Malaga CF 1-0 FC Cologne
Malaga kicked off their latest LaLiga World adventure in earnest by getting the ball rolling in the Aachen Cup, a four-team tournament also featuring Cologne, Olympique de Marseille and hosts Alemannia Aachen. Juande Ramos's charges were indebted to a solitary Pablo Fornals effort to see off Cologne in the first of the event's 45-minute matches.
Alemannia Aachen 0-0 Malaga (4-3 on penalties)
After dispatching Cologne, Malaga faced more German opposition in the final, on this occasion the home team, who belied their fourth-tier status by defeating Marseille via a penalty shootout to reach the showpiece. The Spaniards looked the more threatening of the sides over the 45 minutes, but were unable to find a breakthrough, so more penalties were required to crown the champions. The occasion ultimately ended in disappointment for the LaLiga Santander visitors as Jony and Ignacio Camacho fluffed their lines to hand Alemannia Aachen glory and leave Malaga lamenting a near miss.
