Stefan Šćepovićhas been honoured with the LigaAdelante player of the month award for September by BBVA, the main sponsor of the Liga de FútbolProfesional.
"While I receive the award, it is also for my team mates and the technical staff, without whom I won’t have won this”, Scepovic declared upon collecting the trophy from Manuel Ángel de Cos, the Gijón director of BBVA, the main sponsor of the LFP, who was standing in for Javier de la Chica. "I’m not sure if I can win this award again this season, but it would also be great if one of my Sporting team mates could", the player added.
The Serbian international came to Sporting Gijón this summer, on loan from FK Partizan. Despite that, the 23-year-old son of former playerSlađanŠćepović, has adapted immediately and to devastating effect to the LigaAdelante.
His six goals (including a hat trick against SD Eibar) in five LigaAdelante games during September have helped push the Asturian outfit towards the top of the table, a fact the judging panel took into consideration when casting their votes. Until now, Šćepović has played nine matches and scored eight goals, making him the LigaAdelante top scorer and the main man in José Ramón Sandoval’s team.
