Safety secured for Getafe

A 1-1 draw for the side from Madrid with Eibar was enough to secure safety for Pablo Franco's side, leaving the Basque outfit with work to do on the final day of the season.

he points were shared in the south of Madrid as Getafe and Eibar drew 1-1 in a result that sees the home side's safety in Liga BBVA secured. The Basque outfit will need to secure their safety next weekend at home to Córdoba.

The home side started the game less nervous, linking up well and taking advantage of Eibar's apparent tension, despite the fact thousands of fans had travelled from Guipúzcoa to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez to support them. Little by little Gaizka Garitano's side came back into the game, and after half an hour had s golden opportunity to take the lead through Mikel Arruabarrena. However, just as the visitors were looking strong, Freddy Hinestroza put Pablo Franco's side ahead after a pinpoint corner taken by Pedro León. The home side's joy was short lived as Borja Fernández levelled things up shortly after with a header.

In the second half Eibar dominated possession and hit the post eight minutes after the restart through goalscorer Arruabarrena. The visitors did not want things to go down to the wire, and they started to pepper Vicente Guaita's goal. After 73' Getafe responded with a chance that bounced back off the post, and the game finished all square.
