CD Mirandés player Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta will have to undergo surgery having ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the match this weekend against CD Numancia in the Liga Adelante.
The 20-year-old midfielder, on loan from Athletic Club to Gonzalo Arconada's team, will have an operation in the coming weeks and faces a long recovery period. It is not the first injury of this type suffered by the player from Donostia, as in October last year he ruptured the same ligament in his left knee. On that occasion he was out for eight months, he is expected to be sidelined for a similar length of time this time around.
The player was one of Arconada's starters in the centre of the field, with 856 minutes in the Liga Adelante this season. He also scored the winning goal in the team's victory over Real Madrid Castilla. Therefore this will be a serious blow for the player and his club.
